| Tarponville is located south of San Jose Costa Rica out side a town called Manzanillo. Your trip begins at the San Jose International airport where we will be picked up and taken to the lodge by van. If everyone gets in early enough we will get a half day of fishing in before dinner. The complete Tarponville fishing package includes accommodations in clean and comfortable beachfront lodge located just outside the village of Manzanillo. Each room at the lodge has two beds, ceiling fans, a private bathroom, and a beachfront view of one of the most beautiful coral reefs in the Caribbean. All meals at the lodge will be prepared by local cooks, and the menu will include such items as snapper, lobster (seasonal), local fruits and vegetables, and other local delicacies. The lodge bar and kitchen areas are stocked with complimentary beer, rum, sodas, and mixers for any alcohol that you would like to purchase at the duty free store in San Jose and bring with you to the lodge. A normal fishing day will start with breakfast at 6.00 A.M. You will depart for the fishing grounds by 6:30 A.M., you'll come back for a prepared lunch and then head back out around 2 P.M. until dark. This fishing schedule allows you to be on the water during the prime fishing hours. This is a must due trip for anyone who loves catching big fish who put up one hell of a fight. The 2007 trip was amazing, I hooked into 15 Tarpon and landed 10 and Dennis Berry hooked into 16 and landed 9. This was my fist trip to Costa Rica and I was just blown away on the service we received. The lodging was clean, comfortable, and is right on the beach. Manzanillo is a small fishing village and is located at the bottom of Costa Rica on the Caribbean side right next to Panama. The weather was wonderful the whole trip, with mild showers here and there. The atmosphere is very laid back and relaxing and I would actually recommend going down for 9 days and only fishing 5 of them so you can go due the tourist stuff like, the rainforest tour which is right out the back door of the lodge, zip line through the rainforest canopy, snorkel and there is also a flat 30 mins away from the lodge teaming with bonefish. The lodge will arrange for you to get there and back but there are no guides available for bone fishing so you'll be on your own. This is definitely a trip you can bring your wife/husband on if they don't fish and not have to worry about them while you are fishing because there is so much to do during the day. | ![]() This was the 170 pounder of the trip. Caught by Dennis Berry on a 12 Weight Cabella's rod with a Kingfish Fly pattern from Hill's. ![]() This is a picture of Dennis and I with two tarpon hooked at the same time.
